Abacus v1.2 - The Limb Volume Calculator
Therapists specialising in the condition of lymphoedema have a need to calculate limb volumes in order to monitor the progress of treatment.
Developed in conjunction with MLD therapist Lynda CarterAbacus uses the established method of summation of segmental limb volumes as estimated by adjacent circumference measurements. In this version you have a choice between using the traditional Cylinder model for calculating limb volumes, or the more accurate and more modern Truncated Cone model. Written for PC's running Windows XP, the program maintains a small database of patient details, that records the measurements taken on successive clinic visits, and displays and stores the calculated volumes in a pleasing interface. Reports of patient progress can be generated for printing, and can be saved in a variety of formats. Currently supported formats include plain text (*.txt), Rich Text File (*.rtf), and Adobe PDF (*.pdf).

Abacus v1.2 is marketed for Windows XP only, as time limited shareware (try-before-you-buy). You are advised to update Windows XP to at least Service Pack 2, before installing Abacus, although the installer will update Jet Database Engine components to Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8 as necessary. The evaluation version allows 30 days of use, or 15 uses, whichever limit is reached first, after which it requires purchase of a licence. Purchase of a licence entitles you to free upgrades for all Abacus 1.x versions.

| Abacus v1.2 | (18.8 MB; February 2010) For Windows XP only. The next available update will be to Abacus v1.3, and this will address Windows Vista and Windows 7 compatibility. This installer will put the latest update of Abacus on your computer. This installer supersedes all previous releases, and is suitable for new installations. It will not overwrite an existing database, and should also be used to update a previous installation. It contains the latest versions of the help files and other documents. This update contains a number of enhancements in preparation for Abacus v1.3, and fixes any errors that have been reported to us, whether in the executable or the printable report files. This installation updates the Jet Database Engine to Jet 4.0 Service Pack 8. Microsoft Help and Support Article ID: 239114 refers. This is in order to prevent errors that would otherwise occur if Abacus was installed on a version of Windows XP prior to Service Pack 2. In preparation for the release of Abacus v1.3, this installation also installs the Microsoft Installer v4.5 on your machine if you have not already done so. |
